27 April 2013

Solo ride

It was warm and sunny, though a bit cool in the shade at first. I headed up Glen Canyon to Scotts Valley, then took Bean Creek, Glenwood and Mountain Charlie to Summit Rd. Then, I crossed Hwy 17, and headed down Soquel-San Jose, up Laurel Glen, down Mountain View, and returned on Branciforte.

20 April 2013

Solo ride

It was sunny and nice. For a short ride, I headed up Hwy 9 to Felton, then up Felton-Empire, before heading back down Empire Grade. On the descent by upper UCSC, there was some road work that closed one lane, so I had to stop for almost a minute at a red light. A sign said that it would continue until July 1.

13 April 2013

Solo ride

It was cool and sunny. I started north on Hwy 1. At first, there wasn't much wind, but soon, there was a tough headwind. The speed sensor at the bottom of the San Vicente gulch showed 27-28 mph. I continued past Davenport and headed on Swanton, where there was more headwind. In the valley, there was less wind, but there was still a headwind in most of it until the climb. After the summit, I continued down to Hwy 1, then headed back with a tailwind. The speed sensor just north of Davenport showed 33 mph. At Bonny Doon Rd, I turned left and headed up, continuing up Pine Flat to Empire Grade, where I turned right and headed dowm.

6 April 2013

Solo ride

It was overcast and drizzly, though the roads were mostly dry at first. I headed up Hwy 9 through Felton, then took Glen Arbor to Ben Lomond, then continued to Boulder Creek, and heading out on Hwy 236. I started up Jamison Creek at 1:21 and the road was wet the entire way. Fortunately, my tires never slipped, although the road was wet enough for that to be a concern. I got to the top at 1:46 for a time of about 25:24. Empire Grade was mostly wet and I get pretty wet from the drizzle when going downhill. By the time I got to UCSC, it was becoming sunnier and drier. I had to stop for the red light at Heller for about 20 seconds though.
