Saturday harbor ride
It was sunny and very warm. There was something going on in Capitola that closed the Esplanade area, so there was a detour including a rude gradient up Cherry Ave, though it was short enough for me to stay in the big ring. After Manresa on San Andreas, I was barely hanging onto the back, so after Buena Vista, I got unhitched from the train and had to time trial to Watsonville, working with one other guy. On Casserly, I was off the back again, but managed to catch some stragglers on the climb on Mt Madonna and could see more stragglers ahead of me on the Hazel Dell climb. However, on the descent, I was completely alone. I think there was a tailwind for the descent to Corralitos. After Corralitos, I headed back on Hames, Day Valley, Valencia, and Soquel, draining my water bottle by the time I got home.Posted by Q. P. Liu at 12:02 PM 0 comments

Solo ride
I headed up Graham Hill to Felton, since Hwy 9 was closed, then up Hwy 9 and Glen Arbor through Ben Lomond to Boulder Creek. It was very warm and sunny, so the shade on Hwy 236 was nice. I started up Jamison Creek at 10:32. There was another cyclist riding slowly up the bottom part. I got to the top just as my clock changed from 10:56 to 10:57, and then headed down Empire Grade. There were several small groups of cyclists riding up. There was also some kind of event at the Bonny Doon airfield. I saw a vendor-only parking area and another general parking area. There weren't many people there, so maybe it hadn't started yet.Posted by Q. P. Liu at 11:19 AM 0 comments
